Jaya Psychology Consulting was founded by Dr Áine Fulcher, Clinical Psychologist. Dr Fulcher has more than 20 years of experience in working with children and young people with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions in a range of services. Dr Fulcher was awarded her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Trinity College Dublin in 2000. She then completed a Masters in Health Psychology and was awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southampton in 2005 after completing three years as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist within the UK National Health Service. Her doctoral research dissertation examined cognitive factors in childhood anxiety.
After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, she worked in the UK in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services with young people presenting with a range of moderate to severe mental health conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and developmental trauma and attachment-related difficulties. She also completed cognitive and Autism assessments on children ranging from preschoolers to adolescents. Dr Fulcher was an Honorary Tutor on the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology in Southampton University and a visiting Lecturer in Solent University, providing teaching sessions on child and adolescent mental health. Since returning to Ireland in 2014, Dr Fulcher has worked in an Early Intervention team for children with developmental disabilities and in private practice. Dr Fulcher is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Registered Psychologist with the Health Professions Council UK.
